Technical Requirements

In most cases, your organization will not need to make any technical changes in order for staff to use our program. Our courses can be considered as a cloud-based program, as everything staff need is accessed vie their browser and data is stored online on our server. Below are a few technical considerations you may like to run by your IT Support Team.

  1. Staff log in to their course with a username and password, which means they can log in from any computer with internet, and most devices (phones, tablets) as well. Viewing the course is like viewing a website. The courses display best on a traditional computer screen (rather than mobile or tablet).
  2. We recommend staff have access to an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE11, Safari).
  3. Each user will need a unique email address where they receive their username and password. Facilitators/Managers will need to have easy access to accurate staff email addresses, as they will be entering the information to enroll staff.
  4. Courses ES01 Breastfeeding Essentials, ES04 for Ancillary Staff, ES05 for Allied Health and our Continuing Education Lectures contain video with sound (ES01 only has a small amount of video content). These embedded videos should be viewable in most browsers, but you can double-check by playing our Ancillary Course video here: https://step2education.com/ancillary
  5. Staff can download a PDF workbook, and their certificate is issued digitally as a PDF - so ideally they should be able to view (and print if possible) these two resources. Modern browsers should have no trouble displaying PDFs.
  6. Facilitators/Managers can download completion reports. These are in Excel format .xlsx, so in order to view these files the Manager will need to have access so MS Excel or equivalent.
  7. Finally, our courses contain extensive references and links to further reading. These are external links, meaning if staff want to read further or view the reference they will need to be able to access outside websites (online medical journals, industry websites, youtube videos etc). We consider it an optional aspect of the course, but something to be aware of if your system limits access to outside websites.

We also have additional information for your IT Support Team about Whitelisting our website our email addresses so that staff have no issues receiving their vital username and password.
